WARNING: MIGHT CAUSE POSITIVE EFFECT
2024

Three-channel interactive installation, Kinect sensor, generative code and interactive sound.
Duration: 7 min

Warning: Might cause positive effect explores the visualization of the transcendent and invisible experiences produced by house music.
The project investigates how these profound sensations, which often transcend ordinary perception, can be transformed into a communicative, immersive installation.

The installation acts as a bridge between the physical and the metaphysical. Using a Kinect sensor and custom generative code, I transform the
viewer’s presence into a visual dialogue that reflects the ”flow state” induced by music. The viewer is not merely an observer, but an active participant whose movements complete the work’s internal visuals.

Methodologically, the work stands inbetween documentation and digital reconstruction. It seeks to capture the essence of a subculture where music
becomes a spatial experience, a ”positive effect” that detaches the individual from everyday life and invites them into a state of liberation.

Exhibited at group exhibition fhhiuu[hytty:ryryyrry]pffin TRIO Lahti / 2024.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO JUNGLE
2022

”Forbidden under all circumstances, read the text
beneath the map drawn in black.
Sweet fallen carambolas cover the ground, and we
peel sour oranges.”

A Funny Thing Happened On My Way To Jungle is a story of an unwanted pregnancy in a country where abortion is prohibited under all circumstances. It was set during a period when I was doing volunteer work deep in the jungle. Faced with pregnancy,
I had to ask myself a life-changing question: do I want to become a mother?

The work does not offer answers or moral conclusions. Instead, it occupies a space between documentation and reconstruction, reflecting the instability of memory, embodiment, and age. Methodologically, this project marked a turning point: for the first time,
I combined photography and weaving to create images that function simultaneously as documents, reconstructions, and art objects.

The work has been exhibited at the Utopias Lahti group exhibition Tracing a Way of Operating in 2023
and as a solo exhibition at Ant Brew Lahti in 2024.
NITA
2022

Three-channel Video Installation & Soundscape,
Total duration: 25 min
”Again, my brain chemistry mixes with something
wonderful. Just when I was supposed to focus on
everything else. Always when I have to focus on
everything else. ’Pleasure, Joy and Happiness’
plays in my headphones, while the rest of the world
is filled with a steady hum. It makes me happy.
Pleasure, joy and happiness,
Pleasure, joy and happiness.”

Nita is an immersive dive into a chaotic yet beautiful mental landscape. It functions as an honest portrayal of internal conflict, neurodivergence, and the invisible labor of maintaining focus. The project began as a self-portrait during the onset of the ADHD diagnostic process, aiming to externalize a dimension that remains hidden from the outside world: the turbulent ”other world” within.

The installation is build within a black tent, creating an isolated, sensory-focused environment. By stepping into the installation,
the viewer is enveloped by a three-channel video projection and a dual-layered soundscape. This spatial arrangement mirrors the
experience of a neurological abnormality, where the ”steady hum” of the external world is constantly interrupted or overlaid by intense internal sensitivity, tears, and fragments of fleeting joy.

Exhibited at group exhibition LIUTA, in Vesijärvenkatu 33, Lahti / 2022 and OFF ROAD-artfestival in Oulu Cultural Centre / 2023.
